A ceremony was held Friday in the gymnasium at St. Patrick’s Catholic School to celebrate the graduation of seven eighth graders, who will be attending Perry High School this fall.

Dinner was served for the families of the graduates and for the St. Patrick’s faculty and staff, with a slide show of photos from each of the seven students presented afterward.

Principal Doug Latham, himself a former St. Patrick’s student, will be retiring after two years as head administrator. He urged the graduates to explore new interests, to be involved in as many activities as they could and to “use your talents to the maximum” while not being afraid to step out as leaders.

Moving on from St. Patrick’s will be Chase Archer, Tony Burgos, Adrianna Canal, Beyonce Gonzalez, Angela Hernandez, Bree Martin and Zoe Meyer.

In addition to replacing Latham, the school will need to fill the fifth grade spot, as Daisy Diaz will teach at the Perry Elementary next year while Laurel Englum is leaving to take a teaching position in Omaha, Neb., creating a vacancy in the second grade.
