Six Hawks earn All-WCAC volleyball honors

WOODWARD — Another strong season has yielded postseason honors for several members of the Woodward-Granger volleyball team, as six players were recently awarded All-WCAC status.

Senior Emma Drake and junior Elly Polich were named to the First Team, with junior Natalie Weaver and sophomore libero player Darby Nixon earning Second Team recognition while seniors Katelyn Bandstra and Katelyn Scharlau were both chosen for the Honorable Mention list.

W-G was 22-11 overall, surging from an 11-10 mark near the end of September to finish with a flourish. The Hawks were 8-2 in WCAC play. All statistics are from conference play only, as only WCAC numbers are used for league honors.

Drake finished with 63 kills, 203 assists and 71 digs. She led the team in serving percentage (.948) by finishing 128-of-135 behind the line with 18 digs.

Polich was 121-135-29 serving while making 100 kills. She had 95 digs and contributed 77 assists.

Weaver had 107 kills and 70 digs with an 89-96-12 serving effort while Nixon was 84-97-17 with 24 assists and led the team in digs with 124.

Bandstra served 124-133-15 and had 72 digs, with Scharlau 97-103-11 with 38 kills, 25 digs and 13 blocks.
