Sixth graders ponder the future of peace in poster contest

The future of peace was the theme of the Perry Lions Club’s sixth annual Peace Poster Contest, and 45 Perry Middle School sixth graders submitted posters for judging.

Led by second-year Perry Middle School art teacher Jessica Brocka, the youngsters produced posted judged on their originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme: the future of peace.

Judging began Monday and was supervised by Perry Lion Roger Niemeyer, the chairman of the project.

The top three local winners will receive a cash prize from the Perry Lions Club, with the first-place poster advancing to the Lions District Level competition next month in Exira, Iowa.
