Softball fundraiser tourney held Saturday

All proceeds benefit the Iowa Fire Museum in Perry, which is curated by Brian Eiteman.

Team "Hittin It" claimed the championship trophy in the Gold Division at the Ninth Annual Iowa Fire Museum Coed Softball Tournament in Perry Saturday. Photo submitted.

A total of 11 teams competed for local glory Saturday in Perry at the Ninth Annual Iowa Fire Museum Coed Softball Tournament. The yearly event helps support Perry’s Iowa Fire Museum. Brian Eiteman is the curator.

Championship honors in the Gold Division was earned by “Hittin It” with the trophy donated by Randy and Christy Barton in honor of the Wounded Warrior Project. The “515 Softball Club” placed second in the Gold Division, with Pleva Mechanical providing the trophy, while team “Vipers” placed third. Team “Shell Shock” was donated the trophy.

Captains for the first three finishers were, in order, Devin Little, Ryan Lyddon, and Mindy Keeler.

First place in the Silver Division went to “Saved By the Balls” with “30 Yard Line” finishing as runner-up. Pleva Mechanical provided both trophies. Third place was won by “Honey Bee/Shack Crew” with Dianne Dawson donating the trophy in memory of Mark “Wild Child” Eppert.

Jane Bowen, Doug Jacobs, and Donnie Carpenter were the team captains (in order) of the trophy winners.
