Jan. 10, the 96th birthday of Jim Haas of Perry, was marked by his son, Marty Haas of Johnston, by treating Jim’s friends in the Society of Retired Experts (SORE) coffee group to rolls and coffee at the Perry Perk coffeehouse in Perry, with owner Tari Mason treating all well.
Jim died on Veterans Day 2017.
Marty took his father’s spot at the coffee table and joined in the ongoing effort of solving the problems of the world, the most recent of which are so indecent that the SORE men were not wholly sorry Jim was spared the shameful spectacle.
The members also took the opportunity to wish Mason well in her planned expansion of the popular Perry meeting place.
