This was Kyler Prunty’s sixth year working alongside the Dallas County Sheriff’s office to stage the event for the Special Olympics of Iowa. Assisting Prunty this year in the judging was his fiancee, Mary Kate Doorlacombe.

The West Des Moines couple had their hands full in choosing winners of the five special awards: Best of Show, Most Likely to be Stopped by a Cop, Bad Bike, Longest Distance and Special Olympics Choice.

Some 140 vehicles entered the 2018 show, and the top 20 cars were be chosen by the participants. Dashboard plaques were given to the first 100 cars registered, and all entrants received a T-shirt.

Representing this year’s event sponsors was Mike Anderson of the Deery Bros. auto dealership. Anderson said progress is steady at Adel Chrysler’s new 40,000-square-foot showroom at 10th Street and Hickman Road in Waukee, and a March 1, 2019, opening is planned.

“This is a great event for Special Olympics and for the Dallas County Sheriff’s office,” Anderson said as he helped hand out the top-20 awards. “We’re proud to be a sponsor.”

All proceeds from the annual Special Olympics All Wheel Show go directly to Special Olympics Iowa.
