Much of the student body of St. Patrick's Catholic School are shown closing their spring concert with an energetic performance of "You've Got a Friend In Me." When students return to classes this week, they will find a new principal and seven new teachers waiting for them.

The theme for Tuesday’s spring vocal concert at St. Patrick’s Catholic School was an important one.

“Friends” and the value of friendship resonated throughout the 17 musical numbers performed by the students before a large and appreciative crowd of parents, family and friends.

After an opening prayer from the Rev. Chris Reising and brief comments from outgoing Principal Eddie Diaz, the middle school chorus sang, “I’ll Be There for You” and “Count on Me.”

The kindergarten students entertained with “Be Kind to Your Web-Footed Friends” along with “The More We Get Together” and “You Are My Sunshine.”

“Friends All Around Us” and “Smile” were offered by the first graders, with the grade five students singing “Right with the World” and the Beatles classic “With a Little Help from My Friends.”

The third and fourth grade combined to belt out “A Friend” and the “Aladdin” standard “Friend Like Me.”

“Lean on Me” and “Thank You for Being a Friend” were the offerings of Joyful Noise, the name given to the combined third, fourth and fifth grade choir.

The last class to the stage were the second graders, who performed “Make New Friends” as well as “Best of Friends” and “Side By Side.”

A special treat came at the end, when the entire student body jammed the stage to sing Randy Newman’s Oscar-nominated theme song from Toy Story, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”
