Thirty students of St. Patrick’s Catholic School produced their annual Living Stations of the Cross during Easter Week, including Thursday evening and Friday afternoon ceremonies at the school gymnasium.
The reenactment of the Passion of Jesus Christ as he took his sorrowful way of suffering and death in Jerusalem was staged in complete darkness, with only a spotlight on the Nazarene and the narrator’s voice intoning. The effect appeared to inspire reverence in many attendees.
“I was incredibly moved by their beautiful portrayal of Jesus,” said Mindy May Farmer of Perry, whose daughter, Ella, played the part of one of Jesus’ friends in the play. “This was my first experience with this tradition, and I intend to attend each Easter in the future. People in different denominations are worshipping in the most beautiful ways, and I am so grateful to have shared in this moving remembrance tonight.”
Recreating the Passion under the direction of St. Pat’s religion and social studies teacher Darcy Spellman were Nate Lutterman (spotlight), Kyle Hernandez (music), Gus Ruiz (friend of Jesus), Gerardo Rodriguez (apostle), Khyler Carstarphen (Simon), Trenton Carr (friend of Jesus), Peyton Tunink (woman of Jerusalem), Jayna Kenney (Mary), Marielena Ramirez (Veronica), Rubi Hernandez (woman of Jerusalem), Ella Farmer (friend of Jesus), Kaylee Wuebker (friend of Jesus), Sophia McDevitt (friend of Jesus), Ashlynd Hudnell (apostle), Bella Burgos (spotlight), Jesus Zamora (friend of Jesus), Alejandra Ruiz (woman of Jerusalem), David Roberts (Jesus), Maci Tunink (friend of Jesus), Lilly Riley (friend of Jesus), Betzy Sandoval (friend of Jesus), Cruz Calderon (apostle), Kaiden Summerson (Pontius Pilate), Brian Hernandez (soldier), Ashley Macias (soldier), Sam Ridnour (soldier), Angel Mendoza (narrator), Victor Ferman-Nava (side soldier), Ismael Ferman-Nava (side soldier) and Gannon Meis (narrator).
