State Qualifying Cross Country meet assignments set

All cross country teams in Iowa learned Wednesday where they will compete in their respective State Qualifying Meet. The entire state will run October 18 at 4 p.m. with a few starting time exceptions, none of which will affect local teams.

Perry will run in a Class 3A event hosted by Glenwood. Aside from the host and Perry the other schools competing will be ADM, Atlantic, Boone, Clarke, Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Gilbert, Harlan, Kuemper Catholic and Winterset.

Panorama will host a 2A meet. Albia, Central Decatur, Chariton, Clarinda, Colfax-Mingo, Des Moines Christian, Greene County, Pleasantville, Red Oak, Roland-Story, Shenandoah, Treynor, Underwood and Van Meter will also be in action.

Woodward-Granger and the Woodward Academy will join host AC/GC at Guthrie Center in a 1A qualifier. AHSTW, Audubon, Bedford, Boyer Valley, CAM, Clarinda Academy, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Diagonal, Earlham, East Mills, East Union, Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton, Fremont Mills, Griswold, IKM-Manning, Lenox, Mount Ayr, Nodaway Valley, Northwest Webster, Orient-Macksburg, Riverside, Sidney, Southwest Valley, Stanton, Tri-Center and West Central Valley.

The top two teams at each meet, as well as the top 15 individual finishers, will qualify for the State Cross Country Meet. The state meet is scheduled for October 27 and will be held at Kennedy Park on the north side of Fort Dodge.
