Steaming soups served by Minburn Emergency Rescue Team

Diners who arrived at 11 a.m. got the pick of the soups and desserts at the annual Minburn Emergency Rescue Team fundraising luncheon Saturday at the Minburn United Methodist Church.

The Minburn Emergency Rescue Team served soup by the bowlful Saturday during their annual fundraising luncheon at the Minburn United Methodist Church. Many familiar faces were seen during the two-hour event.

For the price of a free-will donation, diners could choose between split pea and potato soups and two batches of chili, the mild and spicy. Cheese and onions to top the chili and crackers for the soup stood alongside relish trays at every table.

A great variety of desserts topped off the meal, with drinks included.

Rescue Captain Dan Case of Minburn Fire and Rescue said proceeds from the fundraiser help to provide emergency equipment and training for the team.

A meeting of the Dallas County American Legion Posts convened at 1 p.m. in the Minburn Post 99 Legion Hall, and a number of soup diners proceeded by the church to the hall.
