DES MOINES — Woodward-Granger is sending three girls events and one boys event to the Class 2A State Track Meet this week, and the schedule has the Hawk entries spread over three days.

First up will be the girls 4×800 of Emma Drake, Kaitlyn Peters, Ava Petersen, and Anna Tague, who will run in a timed final at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Hawks are seeded fourth with a clocking of 10 minutes, 2.6 seconds and will run in the sixth position of the second heat. Drake, Peters and Tague ran on the 4×800 squad that finished 23rd last year in 10:33.45.

Both 4×400 teams will run Friday, beginning with the girls at 7 p.m. while the boys go at 7:40 p.m. Drake, Tague, Petersen and Kayley Dresback will run for the girls, who are seeded 11th in 4:16.16. They will run in lane six of heat two.

The Hawk boys quartet of Bryce Achenbach, Ian Thompson, Josh Saak and Chandler Cavanaugh are in lane two of the third heat. The enter as the 15-seed with a time of 3:33.79.

Should either 4×400 record a top-eight time, they will qualify for Saturday’s finals, which begin at 3:55 p.m. with the girls. The boys begin at 4:20 p.m.

Set to run at 2:45 p.m. Saturday is Peters, who will take to the track in position 23 in the 1500. The senior is seeded 23rd on a clocking of 5:25.1.

The Hawks are coached by Brent Achnebach and George Ashman, who are assisted by Andrew Hopper and Toby Sangle.

THURSDAY:

5 p.m. — 4×800 Girls (timed finals) W-G (Drake, Peters, Petersen, and Anna Tague) Heat 2, position 6.

FRIDAY:

7 p.m. — 4×400 Girls (preliminaries) W-G (Drake, Anna Tague, Dresback, Petersen) Heat 2, Lane 6

7:40 p.m. — 4×400 Boys (preliminaries) W-G (Achenbach, Thompson, Saak, Cavanaugh), Heat 3, Lane 2

SATURDAY:

2:45 p.m. — 1500 Girls (timed final) W-G, Kaitlyn Peters, position 23.

3:55 p.m. — 4×400 Girls (finals) W-G, if qualified.

4:20 p.m. — 4×400 Boys (finals) W-G, if qualified.
