WOODWARD, IOWA — Seniors Darby Nixon and Brayten Ashman were joined by junior Grace Deputy as Woodward-Granger had three volleyballers garner postseason plaudits from the WCAC.
Nixon, the Hawk libero player, earned inclusion on the First Team, with Ashman and Deputy gaining Honorable Mention placements. Statistics used for All-WCAC status were those compiled in league play only.
Nixon led the WCAC with 168 digs, 435 overall. She had three kills (14 for the season) and 34 assists (71). Nixon served 98-of-111 (88 percent) with 21 aces in WCAC play and was 182-of-218 (84 percent) with 28 aces in total. A three-year varsity player, Nixon ends her career with 1,017 digs.
Ashman had 41 kills (85) and 11 assists (24) with 100 digs (246). She was 110-120-21 serving (200-225-29) for an accuracy rate of 92/89 percent.
Deputy had a team-high in kills during WCAC action (57) and overall (117). She had three assists (9) and 11 digs (44). Behind the line the junior was 80-of-92 (87 percent) with 21 aces and 169-of-194 (also 87 percent) with 36 aces overall.
W-G was 11-21 overall and 8-2 against WCAC competition. The Hawks were 11-3 against teams in their class (2A) or smaller, with 14 of their 18 losses coming to schools larger than 2A.
