ELDORA — Class 2A No. 10 South Hardin posted a three-game sweep over visiting Woodward-Granger in their Region 3 Semifinal Monday. The Tigers won, 2509, 25-10 and 25-14.

The win lifts South Hardin (35-5) into Thursday’s R3 Final against AC/GC (23-12), who defeated SW Valley (17-14), 3-1, in the other semifinal. The match will be played at North Polk.

Woodward-Granger bows out at 11-21 overall. Seniors Brayten Ashman, Ashley Gerken, Darby Nixon and Samantha Volz played their final prep match Monday. Olivia Harsch and Eberle Brimm were also seniors this season for the Hawks and head coach Virginia Polich.

Jada Tague had five kills against the Tigers, with Grace Deputy adding two while Gerken, Volz and Lindsay Mescher each had one. Volz had four assists and Audrey Simmons three, with Ashman, Deputy and Nixon having one apiece.

Nixon led the team with 17 digs, with Ashman posting 16 and Simmons 14. Volz tallied nine digs, Tague seven, Deputy four and Bella McDivitt one.

The Hawks finished the match 31-of-34 serving (91 percent) with two total aces, both recorded by Deputy.

Simmons and Volz were both 6-of-6, Deputy and Tague both 5-of-6, Nixon 5-of-5, Ashman 4-of-4 and Gerken 0-of-1.

The W-G overall record this season was somewhat deceiving, as the Hawks were 11-3 against teams in Class 2A and winless against 18 defeats against other classes, 14 of which were to larger schools.
