The scoreboard in Panora was dark Wednesday as the Panthers played in Madrid, where they suffered a 5-1 defeat.

MADRID — Five runs from host Madrid were more than enough to claim a WCAC softball victory over visiting Panorama Wednesday.

Panorama (0-3, 0-3) received a single and a double from Hannah Woodworth, with Claire Woodworth, Shey Storesund and Kennedy Andersen adding base hits. Lydia Knapp drove in Jazmyn Sellers for the lone Panther run.

Grace Richey went all six innings in the circle for Panorama. She allowed five runs — three of them earned — on eight hits while striking out four.

Panorama will visit Van Meter tonight for a conference varsity doubleheader, with the Panthers playing in the Atlantic Tournament Saturday.
