CARLISLE — At first blush the numbers are not pretty.

One runner on base in 22 plate appearances. No hits. No runs and an 8-0 loss.

However, as Perry softball head Tina Lutterman noted, the team committed only two errors, avoided giving the opponent a big inning, and made Class 4A No. 1 Carlisle (23-3, 9-1) play a full seven innings — results the Wildcats were not likely to have expected.

The hosts scored three runs in first inning and again in the third before capping the scoring in the game with two tallies in the fourth.

Perry shortstop Lydia Olejniczak was busy in the later stages, assisting of seven of the last 12 outs as Kenney retired 14 of the final 16 batters she faced.

Kenney allowed eight runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks. She hit one batter and finished with a strikeout.

Kennedy Tunink’s two-out walk in the top of the seventh was all Perry could do against Carlisle ace Molly Hoekstra, who struck out 11 in the no-hitter.

Aylvia Dubois had a double, single, two RBIs and two runs for the hosts, with Allyx Lee hitting two singles, driving in three runs and scoring two. Delaney Schnathorst played a key role as well, belting three singles, stealing three bases and scoring three times.

Perry picked up a win by forfeit Tuesday when Des Moines North was unable to field a team due to low numbers.

Now 4-19 overall (0-10 in RRC play) the Jayettes will host Bondurant-Farrar tonight in their final home game of the season. Perry will honor their three seniors at the game, as Gabby West, Adriana Eastman and Cassidy Heck take to the home diamond one final time. B-F was a 2-1 winner over visiting Perry June 5, with the Lady Jays scoring once in the sixth and again in the seventh to steal away the win from the Jayettes.
