BOONE — Emily Ades issued walks to five batters in five innings, but the Boone pitcher also kept visiting Perry hitless while striking out three and receiving plenty of offensive support as the Toreadors posted an 11-0 win.
Boone, ranked 10th in 4A, improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Raccoon River Conference play with the five-inning win. The loss dropped Perry to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in league action.
Perry had chances to move the scoreboard in their first three at-bats, with lead-off batter Lydia Olejncizak beginning the game by walking. She was erased on a ground ball, with the guests unable to score.
Peyton Tunink reached on a one-out error in the second, with Cassidy Heck drawing a two-out walk, but a pop-up on the infield ended the threat.
Jayna Kenney walked and stole a base with one out in the third, with Kennedy Tunink walking, but a pair of strikeouts snuffed the rally.
The Jayettes were still within range at that point, as the Toreadors led by only a 3-0 margin after three frames. Two runs crossed in the fourth, with six tallies in the fifth ending the game, a two-run home run from Emma Dighton (her fifth of the young season) bringing the game to an end. Dighton drove in five runs in the win, giving her 16 RBIs through six games.
Zoey Hightshoe had two doubles and a single to aid the winning cause.
Peyton Tunink tossed 4-1/3 innings, yielding nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits. Kenney relieved, recording one out and allowing two runs on two hits.
Perry will play a varsity-first contest against visiting and top-ranked ADM tonight at 6 p.m. They will host the Paul and Mary Ann Graves Classic Saturday, facing Baxter at 9:30 a.m. with IKM-Manning to battle Van Meter in the second game. The consolation game will start at approximately 12:45 p.m. with the championship to follow.
