BOONE — The host Toreadors grabbed a 5-0 lead after three innings en route to a 10-3 Raccoon River Conference softball victory over the Jayettes Thursday.

Boone (3-5, 1-4) put five runs on the board in the third, then countered three Perry runs in the top of the fourth with three of their own in the bottom of the frame. Two Toreador tallies in the sixth capped the scoring.

Singles from Lydia Olejniczak and Jayna Kenney put two runners on board in the third for Perry (0-6, 0-3). A Kennedy Tunink double scored Olejniczak, with Kenney scoring one out later when Molly Lutmer grounded out to shortstop. A Cassidy Heck base hit sent Tunink home to complete the surge.

Taylor Atwell was on base twice for the Jayettes with a pair of hits, with Jasmine Shriver adding a base on balls.

Kenney pitched five innings, yielding 10 runs (seven earned) on nine hits. She walked three batters (one intentionally) and struck out one. Maci Tunink tossed an inning of relief, allowing one hit among the four batters she faced.

Emily Ades was touched for three runs on six hits. She issued three walks and fanned five in collecting the win.

Zoery Hightshoe and Emma Dighton each had a single and a double, with the former driving in three runs and the latter two. Ades provided a double, as did Laena Solveson.

Perry hosts Madrid tonight, with the Jayette seniors to be honored. The Jayettes entertain Carlisle Monday, visits Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday and hosts Ballard Thursday.
