Treva Melton of Perry was treated to an early celebration of her 103rd birthday Thursday by her friends and Farmers Market patrons and vendors.
Treva’s birthday is Oct. 5, but Thursday was the final Farmers Market of the season, so her good friends Geneen Tibben and Bonnie Ikerd baked several dozens of mini-cupcakes and treated Treva to a birthday layer cake of her own.
Treva is a regularly presence as Geneen bakery tables at weekly the Farmers Market, bagging up the goodies for customers with a brisk efficiency.
Treva has lived in the Perry area for many years and worked at a number of businesses, including the Hallmark shop 1203 Second St. Today she lives at the Spring Valley campus of the Perry Lutheran Home.
