If the size of the crowd was any indication, the owners of Tri-County Ag would have to be pleased with the success of Saturday’s Open House.

Located just north of Highway 141 along U.S. 169, Tri-County Ag took over the former Moews Seed site with a soft opening in the later half of May.

However, Saturday was the day for a big, public splash, and the public responded.

Large numbers roamed the 15-acre site, checking out the new business and their offerings while enjoying a free meal and entertainment, which included several musical acts headlined by popular country music artist Jason Brown. Fireworks were also included in the list of activities.

Tri-County Ag is a retail seed, chemical and fertilizer company which also offers pet and livestock foods. Lawn and pasture care services and products are also offered.

In an interview published by The Perry News July 3, Tri-County Ag’s Sean Schroeder, an agronomic specialist, described one of the goals of the new company.

The shade was the place to be as the sun was setting Saturday.

“Tri-County Ag aims to give ag growers in this area an independent choice,” said Schroeder. “We’re looking to get more services and products that we can help service them with.”

The ag-services company has been in business for several years under the ownership of Jeff Huitt of Perry and his partners, but this is its first venture into ag retailing.

“We’ve always been around on the farm,” Schroeder said. “It’s just that now we are out here, and somebody is always at this location.”
