STUART, Iowa — West Central Valley handed visiting Woodward-Granger a pair of conference losses in Tuesday basketball action, one day after the W-G boys had fallen, at home, to Collins-Maxwell.

WCV (5-17, 2-13) was a 59-53 winner over W-G (1-19, 1-15) in the boys game Tuesday, with the Wildcats (10-10, 6-8) a 40-29 victor against the Hawks (7-14, 5-10) in the girls tilt. The results came after Collins-Maxwell (9-10) claimed a 66-54 victory over W-G in a boys-only scrap Monday.

The Hawk boys faced a halftime deficit of 30-18 against the Wildcats, trimming one point off the gap after three frames to put the score at 44-33. The hosts finished with a five-point edge in the final quarter, but it was not enough to make up the difference.

Collin Nardini connected on seven of his 12 attempted 3-point shots to score a game-high 21 points for W-G, with Brody Nardini adding 15 points. Ten points from Dane Polich and seven from Carter Moran was the only other scoring for the hosts.

Polich led W-G with eight rebounds while Brody Nardini had six boards.

Braylen Taylor had 16 points to pace WCV, with Nate Gerling adding 15.

W-G trailed only 34-29 at the intermission of Monday’s game, but Collins-Maxwell used a 20-8 third quarter to open a 54-37 gap.

Brody Nardini had 19 points, Collin Nardini 18, Polich 13 and Moran and Don David two points each.

Polich finished with eight rebounds, with Brody Nardini snatching seven caroms and making three steals.

Statistical information from Tuesday’s W-G girls game was not available.
