WOODWARD — A strong first half lifted W-G to a 76-56 win over visiting Morman Trail Friday, one day after the Hawks traveled to Leon to dispatch Central Decatur, 47-41. Both were non-conference games.

W-G (8-13) was off to a 20-8 start against Mormon Trail (12-7) Friday, with a 26-11 second quarter creating a 46-19 halftime lead. The Saints outscored the Hawks by seven points in the second half, but it was far too little to make up the difference.

Trevor Simmons led all scorers with 17 points, with Walker Deputy adding 16 points, Dylan Backe 15 points and Worth Henry 13. Cody Peters added six points, Brody Nardini four, Collin Nardini three, and Carter Moran two.
