W-G boys run wild over WCV

STUART — Tuesday’s WCAC boys game between Woodward-Granger and host West Central Valley was a contest in name only, as the visiting Hawks stormed to an 82-12 win over the Wildcats.

The two teams had met Dec. 7 in Woodward, where there Hawks (10-3, 9-2) posted a 76-53 victory. WCV (1-12, 0-11) offered no resistance in the rematch, falling behind 24-3 after one quarter and trailing, 43-10, at the intermission.

A continuous clock started almost immediately in the second half, with W-G widening their lead to 62-12 by the end of the third stanza.

Bryce Achenbach had 16 points for W-G to lead all scorers. Nick Buch, Kaya Bowlsby and Noah Hoyt had 10 points apiece, with Reese Jamison and Jack Grell each scoring nine points. Sam Peterson and Keith Braunschweig had six points apiece, with Alex Bice adding four points and Pacey Moats two.

W-G travels to Coon Rapids-Bayard for a non-conference set Thursday before returning to WCAC by hosting Ogden Friday.
