W-G boys tee it up at Saydel quadrangular

SAYDEL — The Woodward-Granger boys golfers joined Colfax-Mingo and Earlham at Woodland Hills Tuesday for a quadrangular hosted by Saydel.

The home standing Eagles won the meet with a 167, with Earlham second at 173 while W-G shot a combined 176 and Colfax-Mingo a 183.

Saydel’s Joe Boehler claimed medalist honors with a three-over par 38, with Colfax-Mingo’s Mason Mosher and Earlham’s Tyler Hamilton each shooting 40.

Nick Brummond had two pars and birdied the 165-yard par 3 ninth to lead W-G with a round of 41. Brady Aunspach shot a 43, Jordan Pierce a 45 and Austin Ober a 47 to account for the Hawk scoring. W-G discarded the scores of 48 provided by Dan Johnson and of 51 by Nick Musich.

Rece Martin and Jared Reese (both 42) and Zach McKee (45) were the other three scoring golfers for Saydel, with Jacob Buehrer (46), Ahren Teed (47) and Jake Jeter (50) joining Mosher on the score card for Colfax-Mingo. Earlham had Ben Clement (41), Gable Johnson (45) and Canyon Hopkins (47) join Hamilton in accounting for the Cardinal total.

The W-G boys return to the links today when they host the 18-hole Hawk Boys Invitational at the Woodward Golf Club. Play begins at 1 p.m.
