MAXWELL — The Woodward-Granger boys were 86-32 victors over Collins-Maxwell Friday in their final game of the regular season.
W-G improved to 16-4 by storming to leads of 24-12 after one quarter and of 51-20 at the half. The onslaught continued after the break, with the Hawks outscoring the Spartans (5-14), 22-5, to push the margin to 73-25 entering the final stanza.
Bryce Achenbach had 25 points, Noah Hoyt 20 and Keith Braunschweig 11 for W-G. Kaya Bowlsby added nine points, Alex Bice and Sam Peterson six points apiece, Jack Grell and Nick Buch four each and Reese Jamison one.
Bowlsby distributed six assists, with Braunschweig, Bice and Jamison providing four assists apiece. Achenbach had six steals and Peterson four to aid the winning cause.
W-G will play Panorama, a 70-33 winner over WCV, in a Class 2A District 13 semifinal Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Des Moines Christian. The host Lions will face Mt. Ayr, a 67-40 winner over AC/GC, in the 8 p.m. game. The two winners will meet Feb. 19, at a site to be determined, for the district final.
