WOODWARD — Seniors Kaycee Major and Alexis Bixler enjoyed their final appearance at the Phil Creese Complex Saturday as Woodward-Granger topped Madrid, 10-3, in a rescheduled WCAC contest.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]

The Hawks (3-29, 2-14) scored twice in their first at-bat, then added seven runs in the third and one in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead.

Needing a run to continue the contest, the Tigers (12-16, 8-8) did just that, sending a single tally onto the scoreboard in the top of the fifth. They added two more in the seventh, but it was far from enough to alter the outcome.

Natalie Wilson suffered the loss in the circle for Madrid, allowing 10 runs on 13 hits and a walk. She finished with one strikeout.

Shelbi Raymond scored and hit both a single and a double for the visitors, with Gabby Brunner swatting a double and stealing a base. Erin O’Neal drove in two runs for the Tigers, with Addy Dean scoring twice.

Katelyn Bandstra had three singles, two runs and a RBI, Chloe Houge a double, two runs and a RBI and Natalie Weaver a single, a triple, two runs and a RBI for the red-hot Hawk offense.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]

Elly Polich had a double, Alissa Smeltzer two singles, a run and a RBI and Major a single and two RBIs. Bixler added a RBI and a base hit, with Maddi Danti providing a hit, a run and a RBI. Rian Jamison and Abby Pommrehn also scored for the Hawks.

W-G faces host South Central Calhoun (5-13) in a Class 2A Region 3 First Round game tonight in Lytton. The winner faces host Ogden (21-7) Tuesday, with that victor returning to Ogden for a game Friday against either Earlham or South Hamilton. The Regional Final will be played July 9. All games are at 7 p.m.
