W-G cross country runs at Ogden Tuesday

OGDEN, IA — The Woodward-Granger harriers made a short trip north Tuesday to take part in the annual Ogden Invitational.

Ogden and Madrid were 1-2 in the boys varsity race at 47 and 65 points, respectively, with W-G sixth of seven at 112. Fifty-six points was the winning score for Grandview Christian in the girls varsity race, with W-G fourth of six with 71 points.

Madrid juniors Ethan Loutzenheiser and Clay Warson were the first two boys to finish, crossing in 16 minutes, 24 seconds and in 16:43.29.

Dillon Limoges was seventh, in 17:56.67, to lead W-G. Carsten Wright (18:19.41), Healey Hill (19:32.51), Cael Leighton (19:41.23), and Alex Younts (20:37.59) finished 10-27-31-37 to account for the other Hawk scorers. Also running for W-G were Sterling Parkinson (43rd, 21:23.11), and Aiden Topalovich (45th, 21:42.75).

Grandview Christian senior Maddy Childs was a few strides faster than W-G freshman Eva Fleshner for top girls honors, winning 18:52.17 to 19:04.45.

Danika Leutzenberger was 11th in 22:28.9, with Chloe Creger 16th in 22:42.92 to help spark W-G. Also scoring were Jaidyn Achenbach (19th, 23:04.47) and Libby Grell (23rd, 23:24.21), with Adysen Churchill (24th, 23:25.48) and Talia Wright (32nd, 23:35.79) also in action.

Collins-Maxwell won the boys two-mile middle school event with 22 points while W-G was sixth of seven at 96 points.

Cooper Finestead (3rd, 12:17.8), Zayden Smothers (29th, 16:06.69), Braden Love (30th, 16:17.09), and Michael Kundel (34th, 17:38.65) were the four runners used for scoring in middle school races. Isaac Anderson (36th, 17:51.68) and Alex Hoyt (37th, 18:59.44) ran for the Hawks as well.

Madrid scored 22 points in winning the girls MS race, with W-G having only three runners and thus not generating a team score.

Lucy Fleshner (14:01.2), Callie Fenceroy (14:31.94), and Sunshine Casey (14:39.56) ran the Hawks, crossing 9th, 12th, and 13th overall.

W-G will return to action next week with a visit to the Nodaway Valley Invite Monday. The meet will be held at the Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield.
