WOODWARD — Seniors Annie Webb, Alison Soelberg and Josie Baumgartner will, no doubt, have fond memories of their final two regular season home softball games, as W-G ripped Guthrie Center by scores of 17-0 and 12-3 in WCC play Thursday.

The Hawks scored two runs in the top of the first inning in the opener, added 11 runs in the second and then scored four times in the third to end the game after three frames.

Webb was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs in the win, with Soelberg scoring three times and Baumgartner scoring once and driving in two runs after both finished 2-for-3 at the dish.

Bree Lesch was 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, Miranda Aunspach was 2-for-3 with a pair of triples and four RBIs while Kendra Husmann added a triple to highlight the 17-hit onslaught.

The Tigers had one hit off starter Hawk Riley Jamison.

Guthrie Center scored three times in the top of the second to take an early lead in the nightcap, but W-G plated five runs in the bottom of the frame to take an advantage they would not surrender.

Five Hawk tallies in the fourth and two more in the fifth capped the scoring.

Lesch was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, with Husmann scoring once while finishing 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Webb was 3-for-4 with two runs, a double and two RBIs while Aunspach and Jamison both finished 2-for-4. Meagan Bandstra aided the cause with a double and a run while hitting 2-for-4.

W-G ends the regular season 12-21 overall and finishes tied for fourth in the WCC at 9-7. They will host West Central Valley Monday at 7 p.m. in a Class 2A Region 7 First Round contest. The winner will advance to face host Madrid Wednesday at 7 p.m.
