W-G girls divide last set of games

WOODWARD — The Woodward-Granger girls knocked off visiting Greene County Monday in non-conference play after suffering a close WCAC loss at Ogden Friday.

Tuesday’s 41-29 victory over the winless Rams was fueled by a 21-7 bulge at the intermission. Ogden claimed Friday’s contest by scoring six of the final seven points in the game after W-G led, 36-35, with one minute to play.

Kayley Dresback had 16 points Monday to lead the Hawks (2-6) to victory. Emma Anderson had 10 points, Darby Nixon and Katelyn Scharlau seven points apiece and Natalie Helbling one.

Greene County (0-8) was led by 11 points from Bailey Cunningham. Brianna Osterson and Maddie Hayes had four points apiece and Sadie Wilson and Izzy Bravard three each. Brianna Habben and Lily Muir had two points apiece for the Rams.

W-G finished 11-of-19 at the foul line while Greene County converted just one of their nine attempts at the stripe.

Abby Langel had 15 points and Allea Klauenberg 11 to lead Ogden to Friday’s win.

Ogden was 13-of-24 at the foul line and W-G 15-of-26. Both teams were ice cold from outside, with the Hawks missing all 10 of their 3-point attempts while the Bulldogs hit 2-of-12.

Dresback posted a game-high 18 points for W-G. Anderson had seven points and Scharlau four, with Nixon, Lisa Pitman and Quinn Kaufman two points apiece. Free throws from Rian Jamison and Helbling capped the Hawk scoring list.

W-G travels to Madrid tonight and hosts Pleasantville Friday in their final 2018 contests.
