W-G thinclads join small field at Boone

BOONE — Thursday’s coed meet at Boone featured only five boys and four girls teams, with Woodward-Granger sending both of their squads to the competition.

Boone (141), Ames (114), Webster City (104) and W-G (73) were the final girls standings, with Boone (144), Webster City (114), Ames (83), W-G (52), and Greene County (51) contesting the boys side.

The Hawk girls won the 4×400, 4×800 and distance medley relays, with the 4×200 team placing second (no relays names were provided). Kaitlyn Peters finished the 1500 in 5 minutes, 41.57 seconds to account for the only other top-two placing by the W-G girls.

The W-G boys did not win an event, but placed second in the 4×400, 4×800 and distance medley relays (no names provided). The team also received second-place points form Brendan Bird in the discus, who finished as the runner-up with a spin of 131 feet, 8 inches.
