W-G wrestlers visit West Marshall quad

STATE CENTER — Thursday evening witnessed the Woodward-Granger wrestling team post a 2-1 mark at the West Marshall quadrangular.

W-G was a 54-27 winner over the hosts, and a 54-24 winner over PCM, with Nevada topping W-G, 42-36. West Marshall beat Nevada, 45-36, PCM topped West Marshall, 46-36, and Nevada was a 48-33 winner over PCM in the other duals.

Jon McKeever (170 pounds) and Kade Polich (182) were both 3-0 with each winning three times by fall for W-G. Also 3-0 were Peyton Nixon (113), Dustin Harney (152), and Devan Brown (195) with each winning twice by fall and once by forfeit.

Alex Saxton (106) was 2-1 with a pair of pins, as was Jackson Potter (160), with heavyweight Alex Evans 2-1 with one victory by pin and one an 11-6 triumph in ultimate tiebreaker.

Joel Harney (120) was 1-2 with a pin, with Tjaden Smeltzer (138) 1-2 with his win coming on an 8-5 decision. Winning by forfeit were Corbyn Atwell (1-2 at 132) and Elijah Bell (1-1 at 126), with Jayden Flugge-Smith (145) and Kolby Fogarty (220) both unable to find victory in any of their three matches.

W-G will complete the pre-holiday portion of their schedule with by facing Grinnell and host DC-G Thursday before taking part in the WCAC tourney Saturday at Pleasantville.
