W-G’s Bermel earns Academic All-State recognition

WOODWARD — Senior volleyballer Briley Bermel was recently named to the prestigious Academic All-State team by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

To be considered for the honor, a student-athlete must possess a GPA of no less than 3.75 on a 4.0 scale and have an ACT score of 27 or higher.

Woodward-Granger is 23-10 this season under first year head coach Bailey Hunt and will face BCLUW at 7 p.m. tonight in Jewell for a Class 2A Region 4 Semifinal. The winner advances to face with No. 6 Tri-Center or AC/GC in Earlham Tuesday, the victor receiving a spot in the state tournament.

W-G is a combined 79-32 in Bermel’s three seasons on the Hawk varsity.
