DES MOINES — Senior Kaitlyn Peters was the lone Woodward-Granger athlete in action at Saturday’s state track meet.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
The final session began under sunny skies at 9 a.m. and Peters figured to have a lengthy wait, as the Class 2A 1500 was scheduled to begin at 2:45 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning at 1:30 p.m. from the National Weather Service changed all that, as the meet endured a 2 hour, 15 minute delay.
Peters had earned an at-large qualifying spot for the event and was seeded 22nd, at 5 minutes, 25.1 seconds. She finished 24th, crossing in 5:29.87. Peters had also run for the Hawks Thursday as a member of the 4×800 relay.
