The Walking School Bus program begins Sept. 2 at 7:30 a.m. at the Perry High School victory bell.

The Walking School Bus program will begin its weekly marches from the Perry High School victory bell to the Perry Elementary School Friday, April 12 at 7:30 a.m.

Now in its fifth year, the Walking School Bus is open to students from transitional kindergarten (TK) to fifth grade thanks to a partnership involving the Perry Elementary School, Perry Public Library and area businesses.

The student walkers gather at Perry High School and make their healthy way safely shepherded by adult volunteers. The Walking School Bus will continue its treks every Friday until May 31.

Parents interested in having their children participate or interested volunteers should contact Misty at 515-465-3569 or email mvonbehren@perry.lib.ia.us. Permission slips will be sent home with students or can be picked up at the Perry Public Library.
