Visiting Norwalk pounded Perry for 15 runs on 16 hits to claim a 15-1 five-inning win in non-conference softball Friday.
The Warriors (2-0) received a solid outing in the circle from Emma Gullion, who allowed two hits and survived four walks by striking out five in five innings.
Perry starter Jayna Kenney worked out of a two-on jam in the first inning before yielding a run on a double, and later, a passed ball, in the second.
Norwalk adjusted on their second time through the lineup, with two singles, a double and then four additional singles in the third plating seven runs and chasing Kenney. Peyton Tunink relieved, inducing a line-out to Kenney in left field to end the charge.
Lydia Olejniczak singled with two outs in the home half of the thrid, with Kenney and Kennedy Tunink drawing walks to load the bases, but Gullion avoided danger with a one-hopper back to the ring.
Norwalk tacked on two runs in the fourth, wiht two doubles, three walks, an error and a two-run home run from Lexi Heim in the fifth pushing the landslide to 15-0. Kenney returned to the rubber to record the final two outs.
Perry (0-2) avoided being blanked when Cassidy Heck opened the fifth with a base hit. Pinch runner Taylor Atwell moved up on a walk to Kenney, with Kennedy Tunink singling to score Atwell.
Abigail Johnson had three doubles, drove in four runs and scored three times for the Warriors, with Emily Ellis adding two singles, a double and a walk while Haley Downe provided two hits and two RBIs and Briley Sodergren a single and a double.
Kenney allowed eight runs on 11 hits in a total of 3-1/3 innings. She struck out one batter and hit another. Peyton Tunink tossed 1-2/3 frames, surrendering seven runs on five hits while walking five.
Perry returns to action Tuesday with a visit from top-ranked and defending state runner-up ADM, with a trip to Boone on tap for Thursday.
