The weekend-long celebrations of the Minburn-Gardner-Washington Township community reunion ended Sunday with a mid-day meal at the Washington Township Consolidated School.

A large crowd assembled well before noon for the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. feast. Plans for a chicken fried steak dinner cooked by Shirlie Simmer were changed when she broke her leg and doctor’s orders prevented her from cooking.

A meal of pork chops was substituted with all good wishes for Shirlie’s speedy recovery.

Memories and mementos made up a large part of the community reunion, including Sunday’s slideshow presentation of the famous Minburn Singing Wheels.

The Minburn roller skating club formed the Singing Wheels in 1951 as part of the town’s fall festival celebrations. At the height of their popularity, the skating group drew as many as 10,000 visitors to their performances in Minburn.
