A West Des Moines woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after she allegedly punched her boyfriend in the nose.

Rebecca Elaine Gregory, 18, of 8925 Cascade Ave., West Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident occurred about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 8900 block of Cascade Avenue, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

According to court records, Gregory allegedly “knowingly, willingly, unlawfully and without just cause punched the victim in the face, causing his nose to bleed.”

The officers observed on Gregory “blood and scratches on her hands consistent with offensive wounds,” according to court records, and Gregory “admitted to slapping the victim across the face because they were fighting.”

The victim told the officers that Gregory “pushed him and punched him in the face,” according to court records.

A witness to the incident told the officers that Gregory “punched the victim.”

Gregory “provided a breath sample for the PBT, which indicated a BrAC of .180%,” according to court records.

Gregory was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
