CARLISLE — Fourth-ranked Carlisle topped visiting Perry, 10-5, in Raccoon River Conference softball Monday.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]
The Wildcats (9-4, 4-0) scored five second-inning runs en route to a 7-0 lead before Perry plated a run in the fourth frame. Three Carlisle runs pushed the margin to 10-1 after six stanzas, but Perry refused to go without doing some damage in their final at-bat and managed to tack on four runs to set the final score.
Jo Diw had a single, double, and a triple while driving in two runs for the visitors, with Gabby West 2-for-3 with a RBI while Alyssa Kruger was 2-for-4 with a RBI. Grace Stewart finished 2-for-3 and scored twice, with Sid Vancil adding a single and a RBI while Peyton Tunink had a base hit.
Kruger threw six frames, yielding 10 runs — only four of which were earned — on eight hits. She walked two batters and hit one with a pitch while striking out two.
Perry hosts Greene County tonight and Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday before traveling to Ballard Thursday.
