Wildcats spoil Senior Night for Jayette volleyball

Carlisle posted a 3-0 sweep over host Perry Thursday in Raccoon River Conference volleyball, denying a home win for the Jayettes and their three 12th-grade players on Senior Night.

Mackenzie Ayers, Stephanie Garcia and Gabby West played their final volleyball match on their home court in the loss. The Wildcats (14-13, 4-3) spoiled the affair with wins of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-16.

Kacy Nevitt led Perry (7-27, 0-7) with 11 kills, with Jasmine Shriver adding four kills. Ayers, West and Quinn Whiton provided two kills apiece, with Jayna Kenney making one kill. Whiton passed out 19 assists, with Shriver and Magley Orellana one each.

Orellana paced the defense with 11 digs, with Whiton tallying nine and Shriver eight. Nevitt recorded four digs and Mary Ann Riesberg and West had three digs apiece, with Ayers, Garcia and Kenney responsible for two digs apiece. Nevitt and Whiton each had one block, with Kenney and West recording a half-block apiece.

Nevitt served 8-of-12 with five aces, with Kenney 13-of-13, Shriver 10-of-11 and Orellana 9-of-9. Whiton was 7-of-8 behind the line, with Ayers 2-of-2 and Garcia 2-of-3.

Perry will wrap their regular season Saturday when they participate in the Knoxville Tournament. The Jayettes were 7-26 last season and will have several opportunities to top their 2017 win total at the event.
