Winners named from Elks Hoop Shoot contest

The annual Elks Hoop Shoot free throw contest was held Saturday, but the final list of winners was not established until Monday evening when the boys 12-13 winner was decided by a shootout.

Boys and girls, in age categories of 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 were tested for accuracy from the foul line. Youngsters in the Perry, AC/GC, ADM, Panorama and Woodward-Granger school district were eligible to compete.

Reid Iben of Perry was the boys 8-9 winner, with Panora’s Caleb Prescott the runner-up. Panora’s Trey Boettcher won the boys 10-11 category, with Panora’s Brayden Prescott second, while Perry’s Kaelan Davis claimed first in the boys 12-13 division with Perry’s Drake Levan the runner-up.

The girls 8-9 champion was Kaylen Snowgren of Perry, with Karagyn Whelchel of Perry the girls 10-11 winner while the 12-13 girls champion was Tyme Boettcher of Panora.

First place winners advance to the Jan. 12 District contest, which will be held at Storm Lake St. Marys High School. There they will compete against winners from contests held in Ames, Council Bluffs, Estherville, Jefferson and Sioux City.

District winners will move to the State Contest in Grinnell, which will be held Feb. 9.
