Nearly three dozen colorful entries were submitted for the annual Perry Lions Club “Peace Poster” contest.
Perry students in grades 4-8 were able to use their own imaginations and talents to create a poster based on the theme “Celebrating Peace.” Posters were gathered and displayed Tuesday evening at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Perry, where judges were asked to name their top three choices.
Mirna Alvarenga’s entry was named the overall winner. She will receive $25 and have her poster advance to the district competition.
Juan Hernandez will receive $15 for his runner-up entry, with Anthony Chavez earning $10 for his third-place poster.
