Winterset man arrested for assault in West Des Moines bar

Joshua Earl Lincoln, 39, of Winterset was arrested Monday on a charge of assault causing bodily injury.

A Winterset man was arrested for assault in West Des Moines bar Monday night.

Joshua Earl Lincoln, 39, of 417 N. First Ave., Winterset, was charged with assault causing bodily injury.

The incident began about 9 p.m. Monday in the 7200 block of Vista Drive in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of a fight at the Vista Pub.

According to court records, Lincoln allegedly “did assault the victim, causing a swollen lip.”

The victim told the officers that Lincoln “punched him three to four times in the face” after Lincoln’s “friend” told the victim to leave the bar, according to court records.

Lincoln “denied ever punching the victim,” according to court records.

Lincoln in held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 2 in Dallas County District Court.

Lincoln was convicted of assault in 2001 in Madison County District Court. He was convicted of assault with intent to inflict serious injury in 2003 in Madison County District Court. He was convicted of disorderly conduct-fighting or violent behavior in 2011 in Madison County District Court. He was convicted of assault causing causing serious injury in 2015 in Madison County District Court. He was convicted of disorderly conduct-fighting or violent behavior in 2020 in Madison County District Court.
