Wolves rally to slip off with win over visiting Panthers

MANNING — IKM-Manning erased a pair of double-digit deficits to slowly pull even and eventually top Panorama, 54-51, in a non-conference boys game Saturday.

Panorama (1-2) held a 13-11 lead after one period but sued a 16-5 spurt in the middle fo the second frame to grab a 31-19 advantage. IKM-Manning (2-1) fought back to close the gap to 34-36 at the intermission.

The Panthers held a 40-28 edge, but entering the fourth frame the score stood 44-38. The Wolves tied the score at 50-all with four minutes to play, with neither team scoring for three minutes. A 4-1 tilt in the final 60 ticks delivered victory for the hosts.

Alex Lingle scored 16 of his team-high 21 points in the second half for the hosts, including clutch 5-of-6 foul shooting. Jared Johnson aided the home team with 20 points.

Luke South and Malachi Peasley dominated the first half for the Panthers, with South hitting four 3-pointers and Peasley three of his four treys before the break. South scored 18 of his 22 points and Peasley 11 of his 14 in the first two quarters.

Two Trey Cobb foul shots and a Jacob Merschman 3-pointer were the only other Panther points in the opening 16 minutes.

Cobb finished with five points, Merschmann and Gracen Welberg with four apiece and Zac Rizzutti with two points. South had seven rebounds, with Peasley making four assists while Cobb, Merschmann and Welberg had three assists apiece.

Panorama shot well in the loss, making 7-of-15 two-point and 10-of-21 3-point shots to finish 17-of-36 overall from the floor. The team drained 7-of-8 free throws as well.

Panorama visits Earlham Tuesday and AC/GC Friday.
