Woodward-Granger finalizes football schedule

Woodward-Granger will take to the gridiron for the first time this season when they host Madrid August 28.

WOODWARD — The two non-district games that will open the 2020 football season for Woodward-Granger have remained unchanged, the school has confirmed.

W-G will begin their seven-game slate by hosting Madrid Aug. 28, with a Sept. 4 visit to Ogden following.

Class 1A District 8 play for the Hawks begins Sept. 11 at AC/GC, with W-G to host Panorama Sept. 18 and Kuemper Catholic Sept. 25. W-G travels to West Central Valley Oct. 2 before hosting Van Meter Oct. 9 in the regular season finale. Former week three and week four games against Woodward Academy and Pella Christian will not be played.

The IHSAA recently instituted a series of general changes and guidelines due to COVID-19. Among those are all teams playing a five, six or seven-game schedule, with all teams qualifying for the playoffs. Football specific guidelines were also announced.

Postseason play begins in Class 1A Oct. 16 with the Round of 64 games.
