Woodward-Granger grapplers win three at own quadrangular

WOODWARD — Wrestling on their own mats for the second time in four days proved quite comfortable to Woodward-Granger Tuesday, as the Hawks rolled to a trio of wins at a quadrangular meet.

W-G ripped Colfax-Mingo, 67-3, bested Ogden, 54-30, and dismissed Perry, 47-27. Other scores saw Ogden top Perr, 45-24, and Colfax-Mingo, 48-30, with Perry falling to Colfax-Mingo, 47-37.

W-G 113-pounder Peyton Nixon was 3-0 with two pins and a forfeit, as was Kade Polich (182). Kolby Fogarty recorded two pins at 220 before while receiving a forfeit at 195, with Devan Brown collecting two pins at 195 and another at 220.

Heavyweight Alex Evans had a pair of pins and a victory by decision, 3-0. Jon McKeever used a pin, a technical fall and a forfeit to finish 3-0, with Dustin Harney posting two pins at 152 and a 16-10 decision at 160 to also end the evening 3-0.

Joel Harney was 2-0 with two forfeits at 120 before losing by fall at 126, with Riece Graham a 10-2 winner by major decision at 126 before having his night ended by injury in his second match.

Tjaden Smeltzer was 2-1 with two pins at 138, with Jayden Flugge-Smith using a pin and a forfeit for a 2-1 mark at 145 while Alex Saxton was 2-1 with two forfeits at 106 pounds.

W-G left one match at 120 at two at 160 open.

The Hawks will visit West Marshall Thursday before competing in the Ogden Tournament Saturday.
