Woodward-Granger thinclads run in Ogden Relays

OGDEN — In one of the smaller meets each season, W-G sent both track teams to Ogden Friday, where they were joined by both Glidden-Ralston squads and the Woodward Academy boys.

The Academy scored 121 points to win the four-team boys meet, with Ogden scoring 66 points, W-G 62 and G-R 24. Ogden (118), W-G (75) and G-R (62) were the only girls team in action.

Bryce Achenbach won the boys long jump at 19 feet, with Brendan Bird second in the discus at 138 feet, eight inches, with Bird second in the 100 dash in 12.02 seconds while Payton Tague placed second in the 110 high hurdles in 17.3.

W-G was second in three relays. Marcus McConahay, Josh Saak, Ian Thompson and Cavanaugh were the distance medley runner-up in 3 minutes, 56.05 seconds, with McConahay, Thompson, Cavanaugh and Achenbach second in the 4×400 (3:48.12) while Tague, J.P. Nixon, Tate Lettow and Pacey Moats were second, in 1:08.76, in the shuttle hurdle.

Emma Drake won the girls 400 in 1:05.82, with Kaitlyn Peters winning the 1500 in 5:38.02 while Anna Tague placed second in the 800 in 2:37.7.

Emma Buckman’s spin of 90’7 was second in the discus while Natalie Helbling was second in the high jump at 4’6.

Drake, Tague, Peters and Mae Anderson won the 4×400 in 4:37.39, with Kaitlyn Bandstra, Anderson, Drake and Tague winning the sprint medley in 2:02.35 while Bandstra, Anderson, Helbling and Alyssa Bice the distance medley in 5:01.21.

Bandstra, Anderson, Bice and Quinn Kaufman were second in the 4×200 (2:03.4), with Peters, Drake, Regan Kaufman and Riley Jamison second in the 4×800 (11:14.25) while Helbling, Maddi Danti and Chloe and Savannah David placed second in the shuttle hurdle in 1:23.64.
