ADEL — The volleyballers from Woodward-Granger won two of their five matches at the ADM Invitational Thursday.

W-G (6-7) fell to Nevada, 21-16 and 21-18, to ADM 21-19, 11-21 and 15-13 and to Gilbert 21-17 and 23-31. The Hawks found victory in matches against Perry, 21-14 and 21-7, and against Norwalk, 23-21 and 21-16.

Katelyn Scharlau had four total blocks, Alissa Smeltzer two and Anna Tague and Lisa Pitman one apiece, with Elly Polich and Emma Drake adding .5 blocks each.

Tague finished with 19 kills, Drake and Natalie Weaver 16 kills apiece and Smeltzer 15 kills, with Scharlau tallying 11 kills, Polich nine and Katelyn Bandstra one. Drake distributed 38 assists and Polich 36. Bandstra had three assists, Ashlynn Soelberg and Megan Burkhart two each and Tague and Weaver one each.[wpedon id=”85410″ align=”left”]

Soelberg paced the defense with 50 digs, with Tague providing 26 digs and Drake 21. Bandstra contributed 19 digs, Polich 17, Weaver eight and Scharlau five.

Drake served 38-of-41 with four aces and Tague 35-40-2 while Bandstra was 33-33-5. Scharlau finished 31-32-1, Soelberg 30-32-3, Polich 23-25-3 and Weaver 8-9-1.

W-G will face Audubon and host AC/GC in triangular action tonight.
