Worley hurls W-G to win at Madrid

MADRID — Junior Brandon Worley was masterful on the mound Tuesday, shutting out host Madrid on five hits and two walks for a complete game victory. He struck out 11 drove in the lone run of the contest in a 1-0 win that kept Woodward-Granger perfect on the season at 8-0 overall and 8-0 in WCAC play.

Worley has thrown 13 innings this season and is 2-0, having allowed only two unearned runs on 12 hits and two walks while fanning 18.

Madrid dropped to 8-4, 3-2 with the loss despite a strong pitching performance of their own.

Braden Gibbons surrendered an unearned run on six hits and a walk while striking out seven in suffering the tough-luck loss.

Jacob Loew had two singles and walked once for the Tigers, with Landen Klatt, Kody Carlson and Luke Owensby adding base hits while Logan Wicker earned a base-on-balls.

Reese Jamison continued his torrid hitting, lifting his average to .520 with two singles and a double. He stole a base and scored for the Hawks.

Worley contributed two hits, a steal and the sole RBI, with Worth Henry also recording a base hit.

W-G hosts Pleasantville Thursday for a WCAC varsity doubleheader. They visit AC/GC Monday, host Panorama for a varsity twin bill Tuesday and then have their annual showdown with Van Meter Thursday, which will also be a varsity two-game set.
