A collision involving three semi-tractor trailers and at least one passenger vehicle on U.S. Highway 169 at the Iowa Highway 141 underpass closed the federal highway in both directions at about 5:45 a.m. Thursday.

Northbound traffic on U.S. Highway 169 is currently being diverted at 150th Street south of the accident. Southbound traffic on U.S. Highway 169 is currently being diverted onto westbound Iowa Highway 141.

The off ramp of eastbound Iowa Highway 141 is closed, but the off ramp of westbound Iowa Highway 141 is open.

The collision is under investigation at this hour by local law enforcement and the Iowa State Patrol. Dense fog was apparently a factor.
