Willis Avenue car fire at 5 a.m. diverts morning traffic

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded to a car fire shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday on east Willis Avenue.

The fire occurred at 2640 Willis Ave., the home of Dan and Gina Ruggle.

There were no injuries in the incident.

Morning traffic on Willis Avenue was diverted by officers of the Perry Police Department at 16th and 17th streets.

The blaze appeared to begin in or around the front of the vehicle, which was parked facing northward. The flames damaged the nearby house.

The flames were quickly controlled on the arrival of the firefighters.The Dallas County EMS also responded.
