Perry’s budding model and actor, 7-year-old Adrian Quijas, recently added another page to his portfolio with his part in a MidAmerican Energy advertisement now playing in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.
The Perry Elementary School first grader broke into the world of high fashion in May 2017 in a Mother’s Day advertisement for Von Maur. The MidAmerican spot was shot in June 2018 in Des Moines and Ankeny, according to Jesse Quijas of Perry, Adrian’s father.
“We’re obsessively, relentlessly at your service,” the MidAmerican voiceover is heard saying in the ad, while a smiling Adrian Quijas is seen riding to school and watching television with his commercial “family.”
“He loves doing the modeling gig,” said Jesse Quijas. “He gets compliments for his dimples and loves to dance. At times you might see him just bust a move randomly.”
Adrian is “an average, down-to-earth, 7-year-old boy — with dreams of becoming a YouTube star!” said Jesse Quijas with a laugh. Adrian’s mother, Amanda Martin of Perry, said the modeling idea came from her own mother.
“Mom always told me he should be a model,” Martin said, “so she sent his picture to the Peak Agency in Des Moines.” The agency later called and asked whether Adrian could come in for an interview.
“I guess they liked what they saw,” Martin said, “and now he is represented by agent Steve Myers.”
Jesse Quijas said his son likes tumbling at Showtime Studio and playing flag football and frisbee golf, and he can often be found at the McCreary Community Building in Perry, hanging out and swimming with friends.
